Lotus Rock Star :: Quickr 8.1 English to ship on March 28

As Ed writes, the IBM channel announcement for Quickr 8.1 has been posted. A "refreshed" UI, a few extra dabs of Web 1.99 in places where it really needed it (member management - you're gonna love it), and a whole slew of new class names for theme developers to learn. Here's the official line:

IBM Lotus Quickr 8.1 is team software that helps you access and share information and project materials that you need to get the job done, and to make better, more informed decisions. Lotus Quickr Standard provides many new features to enhance the user experience and simplify administration, including:

* Streamlined browser interface leveraging Web 2.0 technology
* New Lotus Quickr connector for Lotus Notes 8.0.1 using the side-shelf capability
* New Lotus Quickr connector for Lotus Symphony
* New Lotus Quickr connector for Microsoft Outlook
* Personal file sharing (also available separately as Lotus Quickr Entry)
* Enhanced administrative tools and user interface
* Integration with Lotus Connections profiles

SNAPPS has been hard at work on the limited releases ("betas" of a different name) and provided a lot of feedback to development in the past two months. Some has been folded in, some not, some is a matter of opinion...so we'll see on the 28th if opinion makes any difference

2 - Great to see that finally Quick 8.1 will be available soon especially for Entry template.

Just two questions Rob,

1. Did Snapps free templates are already compatible with QuickR 8.1 or did we need to wait ? If not, have you any idea of a delivered date for a compatible version ?

2. In January Snapps announced the free avaibility of all Anyplace products for mid-febuary. It seems you have little delay on that avaibility probably du to hard work you made on QuickR 8.1. Do you have any idea of when you will made all available ?

1. Nope, there are a lot of changes in 8.1. Some base features seem to work in forms but the UI is all screwed up, and some js variables and many class names change.
2. Yes I need to go back and update that post. We got hit with a slew of work for clients s soon as returning from Lotusphere. It'll be a slow trickle of releases starting with Designer soon, no exact dates yet.

4 - Rob, we are about to launch quickr in our environment and were hoping to have the SNAPPS templates included in the launch (8.1).
Are any of the templates working for 8.1 or do they all need to be reworked?

5 - We are VERY interested in installing 8.1 as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we are dependent on Snapps templates (unfortunate only because of the delay.... We obviously love the templates!). 8.1 has many "must-have" features. PLEASE let us know when you will be ready and PLEASE make it soon!

6 - @Eric - well that's good news and bad...love that you use the templates! I've scrubbed five of them for 8.1. The other 6 need to be done and then repackaged.

7 - Hi Rob,

Which templates were "scrubbed" in 8.1? We, too, are using the templates with 8.0.0.2 and LOVE them, but really want to upgrade to 8.1 because of all the new features.

8 - @Debbie - I probably should have used another word! I am progressing through the templates and making the code changes and UI changes they need to work in 8.1. I'm on the first pass, all functionality will be tested in the second pass. Then I'll do fresh installs on a new 8.1 server, and hand off to Troy to package for the website. As I mentioned my goal is a single "source code" download, and individual place downloads.

Sadly I've been distracted since Tuesday morning by a production server hanging every 3 hours or so.
