WebSphere Portal success - so far so good

Right before leaving for London, I completed configuration of WebSphere Portal Express, including the Lotus collaborative components and the Collaboration Center. These are two different things...the first is a set of out-of-the-box portlets that work with Domino once it's configured for single sign-on with WebSphere. They are fairly light from an integration standpoint, relying on SSO just to surface Domino components like views, Sametime connect links, etc.
The Collaboration Center, on the other hand, is a deeper integration that exposes certain functionality by hooking into the target products' APIs. For instance, the Team Workplace (QuickPlace) portlet in Collaboration Center works by invoking a servlet on the QuickPlace server, gathering and returning data about your list of QuickPlaces. Not rocket science there, but it's nice to expose it in the portal. Here's a picture of the QuickPlace portlet in Collaboration Center:
There's a lot more to it than meets the eye, especially in the back-end configuration, but once it's set up it just works.
