She said yes...
Category NoneNow that (most of) my family knows, I'm proud to announce to anyone who hasn't already read about it that I'm engaged.
On Saturday, January 22 at a quaint dinner for 70 with the Penumbra Group, IBM and a few others, between the appetizer and salad courses, I proposed to Elizabeth Olsen out on the deck of Fulton's Crab House. She was gracious enough to accept without laughing too hard, and Viktor, who was also unaware and taking pictures, recorded the moment for eternity. We kept it quiet through dinner and announced our engagement during my short speech as outgoing director of the group.
Liz is the Managing Editor for Lotus Advisor and WebSphere Advisor magazines, and we have been colleagues for almost four years. We met for the first time in person at Fulton's in 2002, and I distinctly recall ducking a long conversation since I was overdue with an article at the time. Three years later, "media relations" has quite a different meaning.
My son and the rest of our families are very happy for us, and I appreciate all of the congratulations I received at Lotusphere and since then in forums, via email and occasionally in person. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an article to write, and a much smaller list of excuses to buy me time!
