Back in the saddle again
Category NoneProcrastination...Lotusphere and injured shoulders, sore knees and cold weather only go so far as convenient excuses. It was a beautiful day in Kansas City today, topping out at about 59 degrees. So I got back on my bike for the first time since the fated July 21, 2004 tumble (right shoulder still injured...) and hit the street. The tires were quite low so a quick trip to Shell for air was my first mile, then sufficiently inflated I headed for the trail for 14 more. I was slower than my usual pace (15 miiles in 90 minutes vs. the usual 13-14 mph), but it was my first ride in 7 months and it was still damp under the bridges from two days of rain.
Why today? I've considered signing on for a 4-mile St Patrick's day run/walk thing and my cardio health needs a tune-up first. That and my cholesterol came back higher than I had hoped from a life insurance physical (blood pressure, on the other hand, I was very pleased with). I'll probably need to control the cholesterol with medication, as my diet is already low-fat and has been for 20 months. In other words, thanks, dad....<g>
