News from DNUG & IBM - Welcome "Hannover", Welcome Back QuickPlace and Sametime!
Category None
First as a side note...if you didn't quite get my audio posting from a few days ago, the official product names QuickPlace and Sametime are back with the 7.0 releases! The bad news...I totally depended on those long names for at least 10 minutes in each of my presentations (just try saying IBM Lotus Instant Messaging and Web Conferencing 400 times in an hour). Now I have to go find more demos for Advisor LIVE in Las Vegas!
But the real news of the day is the annoucement of the next major release of the Notes client - code name "Hannover". The official annnouncement happened about a minute ago in Hannover, Germany. Fortunately, there are a few items posted about it on Ed's site and the IBM site already.
It is refreshing to see continued and consistent development of the Notes client, and hear the type of message to IBM's client base that this release represents. It is clear evidence of IBM's committment to deliver on the promise of contextual collaboration. And it's good UI, something near and dear to my heart.
