Tipsy Tax Planning 101

Category Office Mac
I thought you would appreciate my New Year's Eve tale...

Last weekend I bought Jerald and Viktor new Samsung 23" widescreen monitors. They're gorgeous. Then Viktor nearly peed his pants when I took him to get a MacBook Pro as well (he needed a laptop refresh), and I ordered one for Julian on December 30 (poor guy, had to bring his own to SNAPPS), all to get the expense into 2008. Well Jerald's monitor wouldn't work straight away - Sony drivers were making it fuzzy - so I took it and fell in love with it.

Not to be left empty-handed, Jerald did what Jerald does and researched his chipset and figured out how to get the higher resolution enabled on his laptop. So after one day of this beautiful monitor, it was taken away.

Not to worry, I thought, It was $259 at COSTCO so I would leave the office on Wednesday December 31 in time to stop by and pick up another one for myself, and even one for Liz, money being a thing that needed to leave my bank account in 2008 or be swindled by the government. I told Liz the plan as I was driving home and as I approached COSTCO (with her on the phone), argh argh argh they were closed! So immediately I switched to the ever-present Plan B which entailed crossing four lanes of traffic to turn right instead, where I could most easily reach the liquor superstore.

A box of Cabernet in hand (yes, I buy wine from a personal account, and when not travelling am a bit more stingy there), I arrived home and immediately broke into it, drowning my sorrows. Two episodes of Buffy later (Sarah Michelle Gellar is something to behold on the Embarrassingly Large TV, if I may say so, but then again pretty much everything looks better there), it hit me! I gleefully went about dinner preparations, grilling a lovely salmon and baking up some sweet potato fries with cinnamon sugar, preparing a honey-Coleman's mustard dip (thank you England for that one thing).

During dinner - and more Buffy - Liz noticed the change in my countenance and before she could ask, I told her my monitor woes were in the past:

Can't wait...to depreciate this!

Gravatar Image4 - We can no longer find Rob in his office...unless he turns his monitor sideways!!

I told him the only solution is to gain some weight to compensate!
