SNAPPSapalooza

Category SNAPPS
It's not often (2-3x per year) that we have the opportunity to bring everyone together at SNAPPS, with the distributed home offices of half the team. But this week, Julian is in from Atlanta, and Troy from the Vancouver BC area. Troy and Viktor delivered a Lotusphere Comes to You Online session yesterday (one of only two presented by non-BMers), and we're using the rest of the short week to wrap up some Collaboration University items, meet on client projects, and have a little fun. Tonight, everyone (17 of us including local families) is going to the local "independent professional baseball team", a Kansas City T-Bones game.

It's funny that whenever we all get together, it's like we haven't missed a beat. With Sametime, VOIP, Twitter, Facebook, and other random social software in use daily here, we tend to know what's going on even without the daily lunch outings. But there's still nothing like a good week of face-to-face teamwork with colleagues, not to mention a bit of baseball.

Free Notes 8 Sidebar Applications from SNAPPS Atlanta (the mind of Julian Robichaux!)

Category Free Templates Notes 8
SNAPPS' Notes client development division head and free software advocate Julian Robichaux has put the finishing touches on a few real snappy applications for the Louts Notes 8+ client. The best part, they're free!

My favorite, being the schitzophrenic admin / developer / manager type that I am, is the Remote Console. For years after R4 I used a Smarticon to launch the old admin console in a window. Sadly it doesn't work on a Mac. This should be handy, and give me back an hour a week I spend launching a Windows VM just to get to Domino Administrator to run a silly console command.

Collaboration University open for registration - first week was great - IBM speaker requests?

QuickImage Category Collaboration University
Well last week's opening of Collaboration University registration went quite well, our best opening week ever! I'll share more details as we get closer, but we've also managed to secure some incredible deals on hotels. Unheard of rates for Chicago ($124!!?!) for the first 20 or so people while they last, and an equally impressive £114 for London, also while they last. And these aren't dark alley hotels, they are the places the speakers and organizers are staying.

Early registration is the way to go - you get a $200 USD savings on the reg fee, plus you get a crack at one of these hotel deals.

Now that the sales pitch is over - I want to hear from attendees! The best way to give me feedback is to follow @CollabU on Twitter! But in case you're not a Twitter person, feel free to send email directly to cu2009 at CollaborationUniversity dot com. Here's what I'd like to know:

1. Who from IBM would you like us to invite to speak? We've already sent invitations to the product and development managers.
2. What specific topics would you like covered? We also ask this on the registration forms...so you can answer there too!
3. If you're an alumni, what should we be sure not to change, and what would you like to see done differently? Barring venue changes and massive overhauls, we'll do what we can to accommodate your requests!

Thanks - and see you in September...

Collaboration University Registration opens Tuesday with a DAY ONE Discount!

QuickImage Category Collaboration University
ANNOUNCEMENT: We're opening this year's registration tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12, and have a special Day One Discount of $100 (in addition to any Early Bird or Alumni Discount for which you might qualify).
Message from Rob Novak, Producer

Rob NovakAs we enter our fourth year, Collaboration University is evolving, just like the collaboration software we know and love. With new versions of Sametime and Quickr released in the past 12 months, the release of Lotus Connections 2.5 (which we're covering as well), this is going to be a great year to come to Collaboration University in September. The dates are:

Chicago: September 14-16
at the IBM Innovation Center
London: September 21-23
at IBM South Bank

There are 250 CU Alumni and 200+ people who requested personal notification from the CU website. They've been notified personally, but I though I would add this to my blog as well. Registration will open Tuesday, May 12 at 12:01 AM. Plus, there are some great Alumni discounts and discounts for registration by June 20.

We have even more speakers this year - see the previous blog entry - with five participating partners and four special industry guests. We are covering Lotus Quickr 8.2 and Sametime 8+, and are adding Lotus Connections 2.5 content.

Here's where your investment pays off. Not only are we not raising the 2009 registration fees, but in addition to the Early Bird registration discount of $200 and up to $150 discount for Alumni:

I am extending a $100 "DAY ONE Discount" to anyone registering on Tuesday, May 12.

All the information you need is at the CU 2009 website, where registration goes live just after midnight:

You can also request information from our dedicated email address,
cu2009@collaborationuniversity.com, or as always you can reach me personally at rnovak@snapps.com.

To summarize:
  • Same great venues as 2008
  • Same great value, with no fee increase
  • More discounts including $100 "DAY ONE Discount" for registration on May 12
  • New content, new speakers, new value to you!
Thank you very much for your continued interest and support - I hope to see you in Chicago or London!

-Rob
