Collaboration University and LoLA announcement: There's an app for that

QuickImage Category iPhone Quickr
In the midst of two top-notch Lotus events, we just announced formerly secret Project Jonathan, which is an iPhone/iPod Touch client for Lotus Quickr.

It's best heard about live - so join me and Chris Miller for IdoNotes podcast #66 here:
http://planetlotus.org/58253c

And, our gracious host Tim Clark of IBM UK recorded a shorter version of the announcement here:

Participants at LoLA in Cambridge, MA will hear about Project Jonathan from David Kajmo, Senior Product Manager for Quickr, in a session this week. And - for those of you in attendance at LoLA, SNAPPS' Julian Robichaux is representing SNAPPS this year for the IBM Lotus Business Partner Advisory Council and has his iPhone fully loaded with the latest code - feel free to stop him for a demo.

Project Jonathan is starting off as BOTH a web app and native iPhone/iPod Touch app. We're soliciting feedback on both and hope to make availability announcements soon. So find Julian, comment here, ask me questions via email or here at Collaboration University, to help us "polish the apple" a bit before releasing it.

Round 2

QuickImage Category Collaboration University
After a successful first week in Chicago, I took the train to O'Hare and the overnight flight to London's Heathrow, then a black cab to the offices of The Turtle Partnership. Fortunately for everyone involved from the pilot to my seatmates to the cabbie and most importantly the Turtles, I had late checkout in Chicago and was able to shower right before leaving! Upon arrival discovered three new registrations for Collaboration University in London so out with the badge paper, VPN to the accounting system, and I may have averted the annual "oh no someone else is coming Monday, go buy a color printer!" scramble. Not that I wouldn't like to be proven wrong, but it is a bit funny to have a printer set up in my hotel room for a week.

I stayed the night at the home of Mike and Sue Smith, Mike being a director at Turtle and fellow member of Penumbra, OpenNTF Alliance, and the Lotus Business Partner Advisory Council (BPAC). Mike has handled all the preparations for CU London but will for the first time not be with us next week - he is representing Turtle at the Lotus Leadership Alliance (LoLA) meeting in Cambridge. The other one.

We're now on our way from Turtle's offices to the hotel and venue for some setup with Tim Clark of IBM and will be working into the night on the labs and workshops which are fully subscribed now. Another conveyance awaits over the weekend as I take the London Underground to dinners, a few sights, and more than likely an office supply shop. For a printer.

Cheers!

Trying to stay ahead of the printer...again! CU registrations still coming in...

QuickImage Category Collaboration University
Just when we have all the agendas and name badges printed, another registration or two hits the system. It never fails...every year, when I get to London, I buy an inkjet printer for the room and end up printing one or two new badges. This thrills Gab Davis, as she has a veritable graveyard of lightly used cheap inkjet printers in her kit closet!

With six days remaining before Collaboration University Chicago and 13 days to CU London, I am now reviewing presentations and can tell you that there is really some great new technical info this year. With new versions of everything (and Sametime 8.5 indepth coverage) there are going to be more than a few revelations at this year's conferences. Here's a sample of what we're up to!
  • Warren Elsmore has labored many many weeks getting Sametime 8 on Linux, so you don't have to.
  • Gab Davis has slain more dragons than I can count working through various permutations of LTPA and LDAP to get the WebSphere-based Sametime 8.5 Meeting Center going.
  • Viktor Krantz has created several new Quickr 8.2 hook examples and "variations on a theme."
  • Troy Reimer has created three reusable examples and has been deconstructing six-figure development projects so you can understand how to plan development.
  • Chris Miller is having alphabet soup every day. LDAP, SSO, LTPA, SMTP...you get the idea.
  • Julian Robichaux and Jerald Mahurin have written sessions for others to deliver (yay for the home team!) on data transfer, migrations, and support.
  • Carl Tyler has cooked up new Sametime API examples, and will show you how to customize the new Sametime 8.5 web client - very cool stuff here.
  • Mitch Cohen and Stuart McIntyre have teamed up to get you up and running on Connections 2.5, and show you how to make the biggest impact with light customization.
  • Tim Clark and Kat McGivney are preparing lab machines, working on VM transfers onsite and generally being indispensable.
  • Our IBM guest speakers Louis Richardson, Darren Adams, Miki Banatwala, David Kajmo, and Rob Ingram are showing us the future...and how Quickr kicks Sharepoint squarely in the ECM.

There are slots remaining, and the ROI is pretty clear, so feel free to register online today.
