Lotus Rock Star :: Absolute final day - and no, not what you think

Whenever I use some kind of statement like this in headlines (this one is called the impending event close, for those of you studying sales) it has to do with something nice and commercial. For instance, you would be led to believe by my "Absolute final day" that I'd be talking about registration for CU 2009. It would be nice, sure, but this is much more important than that.

My dear friends Warren and Kitty Elsmore, after months of training, are taking to the streets TOMORROW and will be WALKING 26 MILES in support of Breast Cancer Research. This, to me, is absolutely amazing and a testament of their dedication to the cause.

Three or four years ago, I remember the Lotus user group folks gave out those pedometers at Lotusphere. I put one on, and wore it for the entire conference, Saturday through Thursday. I walked just 23 miles that entire Lotusphere, and boy my dogs were tired every single night. I've run 5k races and then needed a day off work. So needless to say, this act is not only selfless but they've earned the respect and admiration of many in the Lotus community as evidenced by the number of donations they've received. Even the small donations make a difference.

Segue? Yes. You're good.

Today is the final day you can pitch in a few quid (yes Americans, you can donate, all that fancy conversion stuff happens at the bank). So don't think about it. Just give. Please.

The Just Giving site will remain open to accept donations for a wee while yet and we would still really appreicate anything anyone can give.

Bad timing though, the Just Giving site is going through a major upgrade and is off-line some of the time whilst that is rolled out. So at the moment I can't edit our page to thank everyone or to upload an image of us in our bras! But if you haven't donated and you still want to can I ask you to persist in trying to get on the site and spare us a few quid?
