UPDATED Alert: If you upgraded to Lotus Quickr 8.2 Fixpack 8, downgrade to Fixpack 7
Category Lotus QuickrUPDATE: To clarify, this post was not written for shock value. I meant to alert Quickr administrators who a) have deployed Quickr 8.2 FP8 and b) are likely to have users with access to either PandaBear, SnappFiles for iPhone, or another REST API program with a specific call (one to get folder contents) that one small piece of FixPack 8 is impacted negatively by these tools and calls. If you do not anticipate having users with these tools, you are in the clear but should update your server when the revised FP8 comes out on Monday Feb 1. If you do have users with these tools, you should either downgrade to FP7 or communicate with users not to use these tools over the weekend, and still update your server Monday. Unfortunately I do not know what other REST API products and tools might use these calls, so to be safe check with your power users to see if they are using any other methods to access Quickr besides the web UI and connectors, which are fine in Fixpack 8. The fact that there is such a low barrier to end users downloading and using these tools should put you on alert and cause you to test these tools when upgrading.
ORIGINAL POST:
The response was really, really fast. I am very impressed.
Based on a report below from a SnappFiles user, we identified a bug in the REST API introduced in Quickr FP8 - just available since last week - that would cause a crash condition on using any REST tool, product, or link in a specific format. Our lab advocate at IBM escalated to support L3 which, on a day when development is moving offices from Westford to Littleton, reproduced the crash in less than an hour and is taking down FP8 from IBM Fix Central to be re-posted asap, hopefully Monday.
Bottom line, if you have already updated your server to FP8, follow the uninstallation instructions. Go back to FP7 which is stable, and wait for the re-release. If you haven't, this is not the weekend to upgrade to FP8!
Great job IBM on the response to this critical issue.
